To me this song means that a girl was hurt and she was scared for the rest of her life because of what someone did
to her. This song is a little sad but, is one of my favorites because it explains what things can do to you.

This song has repetition because it repeats the line "Because of you." and "I never stray to far from the sidewalk."
and "I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt." The song keeps repeating the chorus.

The song has little contrast because I could imagine a girl crying because of someone else.

The song has consonance in the first verse. It keeps repeating the M sound. In the chorus it keeps repeating the Y sound.
In the second verse it repeats the L sound. The third verse has the long i sound.

The "i" sound would be assonance
